Clinics and Development Opportunities

We have many opportunities for player development from age 7 - 18.  Our  Youth Programs help rising athletes develop key fundamentals in a progressive learning environment, beginning with an introduction in our 8-12 year old clinics and progressing through 15 and older as they grow and develop their skills and love of volleyball.

Many players decide they want more and for them we have our competition teams that begin with U11. Tryouts for these teams are held in August (for U15-U18) and October (for U11-U14).  More information on those programs and how to prepare and tryout will be posted in the  months leading up to tryouts.

We also have clinics and camps throughout the year - check back often to see what is available.

About CHAVC's Youth Development Program

CHAVC's Youth Development Programs are for young athletes aged 7-13, or through 8th Grade. As with all of our club teams, our coaches use positive coaching techniques mixed with high energy, age-appropriate drills, and team-building games.

We believe that you should not have to choose between programs that are fun and those that are competitive, and that those who excel the most in volleyball are often those who love the game the most. CHAVC's Youth Development Program aims to build the bridge between competitive and fun by fostering a life-long love of the game while developing excellent skill fundamentals. Many of the athletes on our highly competitive club teams have gone through the CHAVC Volley101 program!

CHAVC offers several levels of programming for ages 7-12.

Our Vibes Clinics are an introduction to volleyball, providing sound fundamentals and a high instructor-to-player ratio. As athletes master each level, our coaches will group them with other athletes whose skills are progressed and more complex drills are introduced to lead up to team play. Our Super Novas clinics still provide instruction and increased skill mastery through drills, but also offers more of a "rec league" game-play format during each session. Participation at this level is most enjoyable for players that are fairly proficient at serving and passing, so that rallies can start to happen.

For athletes wanting a year-round club experience, CHAVC offers one 11U team and two 12U teams. To join a team, players try out in early October and are placed according to ability. There will be a pre-tryout clinic for the 12U age group running the three Friday nights prior to tryouts, and two Sundays prior to tryouts for the 11U age group. If a player is on the fence about playing club, these are good clinics to attend so they can see firsthand what a club practice is like, and get any questions answered about the upcoming season.

There are many satisfying ways to enjoy the great sport of volleyball and our goal is to provide a variety of opportunities so that everyone can find a good fit.

Financial Aid:
Every Kids Sports at https://everykidsports.org/every-kid-sports-pass/ is a nonprofit that provides financial assistance for recreational programs such as our youth clinics (but not travel teams).  The child must be enrolled in Medicaid, SNAP, or WIC to qualify.

Volley101, 201 & 301 Series Descriptions

Volley101: For 7-14-year-olds new to the sport. Our knowledgeable coaches teach proper form, but keep it fun and create opportunities for success. Our goal is to ignite a love of volleyball in our young athletes.

Volley201: For 9-14-year-olds who have had at least two sessions of Volley101 or other volleyball clinics and camps. This series aims to build on and connect the different skills taught in Volley101 to teach three-contact game play.

Volley301: For 6th - 9th grade athletes who have completed several sessions of Volley101 & 201 and want to continue to develop their skills. It is mostly comprised of game and team play and is designed to help prepare them for future team participation while having fun playing 4v4 or 6v6 volleyball!
