2024 Team Tryouts and Open Gym Information

It is our mission to form viable teams with skilled athletes in all positions. We reserve the right to not form a team if there is not sufficient representation in each position (e.g. middles, setters, pins)

Tryout Dates & Times

15-18U Tryouts will be held in our Netsports Facility in Morrisville (3717 Davis Dr, Morrisville, NC 27560) on August 4th, 5th, and 6th. As always, no offers will be made prior to our posted tryout dates and we will continue to support and conduct open, fair and transparent tryouts, free of coercive or manipulative pressure to secure a commitment. You can read more about the Fair Tryout Pledge below.

11U-14U Tryouts will be held on the weekend of Oct. 7th - 9th, also at Netsports. Tryout times coming soon.

We will give each athlete 48 hours to consider our offer alongside their other offers and give us an answer. This is meant to give ample time for consideration while respecting those on the wait list who cannot receive an offer until others have accepted or declined.

Fair Tryout Pledge

CHAVC is proud to join other Carolina Region clubs in signing the “Fair Tryout Pledge” which ensures student-athletes and their families that their tryout experience will be fair and free from pressure.

In the spirit of fair play, athlete’s best interests, and collaboration with other like-minded clubs in the Carolina Region, we pledge to conduct open and fair tryouts on a cooperative timeline. Furthermore, our tryout process will be conducted with integrity to enable every athlete the opportunity to earn any spot on any team in our club. Stated another way, this means no players are pre-offered spots on a team in our club before the published open tryout dates promoted by our club. We also pledge to honor the Carolina Region Athlete’s Bill of Rights and will not subject any athlete or their family to unethical, coercive, manipulative, or other such pressure tactics to secure a commitment.

Financial Aid

While we have always been mindful to keep our club fees as low as possible, we understand that club volleyball can be quite expensive and not all families can afford the full cost of our programs.

In order to fully live into our mission of growing and promoting the great sport of volleyball in the Orange/Durham/Alamance/Wake/Chatham County areas, CHAVC offers a small number of need-based grants for families who find it difficult to cover team fees.

Process:

Our financial aid process includes an online application and review process based on family income as well as other factors. Applications must be submitted by midnight on Wednesday August 2nd as there is a limited pool of aid which will be fully allocated based on these pre-tryout applications. You will then receive your financial aid offer at the same time as we offer you a spot on a team. Aid is processed and awarded discreetly by our Financial Aid Committee. 2023-24 CHAVC Financial Aid Form

Expectations:

All financial aid recipients are required to attend at least 85% of practices and all tournaments (unless there is an illness or emergency.) Recipients and their families must also abide by all club rules and policies, including staying up to date with payment plans. Failure to do so will result in loss of financial aid.

Those receiving financial aid are also encouraged to give back to the club by volunteering on our social committee.
